The total area of the base is more than 600 mu, and more than 500 species (varieties) are collected and preserved. The core test area of 100 mu has been built, and more than 100 blueberry, blackberry and raspberry varieties (series) resources have been preserved, and the largest variety resource bank of this kind of berry in south China has been built.

Baima Blackberry Blueberry Experimental Base is located beside Baima Lake. It was built in 2013 and managed by Jiangsu Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with the assistance of Jiangsu Zhongzhi Ecological Plant Science Research Institute Co., LTD. The test site covers an area of 50 mu, with a glass greenhouse of 300m2, a 1500m2 linkage greenhouse, a simple greenhouse (rack) of nearly 30 mu, and an open-field planting area of about 20 mu. The main road of the test base has been all hardened, and the drainage ditches around more than 30 mu of land have been built with brick and concrete structure. Through the construction and improvement of these infrastructure, the field research work of the research group has provided great convenience.

1. Collection and preservation of germplasm resources. So far, we have collected and preserved more than 200 pieces of high-quality economic forest fruit resources such as blackberries and blueberries, including 72 pieces of blackberries and raspberries, 96 pieces of blueberries, 8 pieces of binmei and 28 pieces of thin-shell pecans.

2. Selection of excellent varieties. Through the collection of resources investigation and analysis of all kinds of germplasm resources in the field, has selected blackberry, blueberry, more than 10 varieties with excellent quality and high traits (department), since 2013, the use of the resources of the base, and on the basis of the preliminary research and investigation, the adaptability and economic characters were screened out the fine varieties of blackberry, 5 blackberry varieties and 3 blueberry varieties have been identified by provincial departments.

3. Breeding of excellent varieties. The existing germplasm resources collected and preserved in the base are mainly used to set breeding goals and determine hybrid combinations according to production requirements, and focus on crossbreeding research. Using the resources of the base, the breeding nursery was established to screen superior hybrid strains, establish superior lines and strains, and carry out field comparative tests. Since 2013, on the basis of preliminary experiments, 4 blackberry varieties have been independently selected and bred by provincial departments, and 11 national forest variety rights have been obtained (1 blackberry, 2 blueberry).

4. Carry out high-efficiency cultivation tests. Including fertilizer, pruning, soil cover, rain shelter cultivation and other experiments, the focus of the blackberry, blueberry soilless (substrate) cultivation experiment, has achieved good results.

5. Establish (small-scale) demonstration orchards. A certain scale of demonstration orchards will be set up to show the excellent varieties and their efficient cultivation techniques.

6, propagation of excellent varieties, strains and strains. The glass greenhouse and combined greenhouse were used to propagate the selected excellent varieties, excellent plants and strains for the later scientific experimental research and demonstration promotion.

7. Provide platform support for all kinds of scientific research projects. Since 2013, it has provided test materials, test sites and display platforms for the smooth implementation of nearly 30 projects, such as national Fund, provincial Science and Technology Department, provincial independent innovation, provincial forestry innovation, and provincial agricultural industry system. Received the relevant experts and leaders of the affirmation and praise.
